Kyte was a mobile-first social video platform for live and on-demand content. Kyte’s customers included major media and entertainment brands including Universal Music Group, ESPN, E! Entertainment, SPIN Magazine, and many others. Kyte’s platform enabled creators and brands not only to produce content, but to completely tailor the product experience for each artist, show, etc.

As head of product design and UX, I led the small team that designed the experience of Kyte’s entire suite. At the time, we supported not only iOS and Android devices (which were relatively new), but Blackberry, Nokia, Microsoft, Motorola, and others I can no longer remember. Each had a native OS and UI and required bespoke design and development.

Enterprise Content Mangement & Production Console

In addition to the content creator tools and audience experience (media viewing, live chat, and other interactive features), Kyte built an enterprise console for managing video content, creating and customizing players and widgets, viewing analytics, and more.

I was the de facto product manager who owned all the Kyte Console product requirements, use cases, and road map, while also owning the product design and UX.

Kyte was ahead of its time as a mobile live-streaming platform in a world before the iPhone even existed, when mobile broadband was inconsistent to say the least. Nonetheless, it became the audience engagement tool of choice for the likes of Lady Gaga and many other popular figures at the time.
